Ngo Dinh Nhu was Diem's brother and most influential adviser. Diem delegated many responsibilities in his brother, who was largely responsible for the organizational structure of the regime. His authoritarian methods and his strong influence on Diem, coupled with the excesses of his wife (see Madame Ngo Dinh Nhu) contributed greatly to the coup and subsequent assassination of Diem and Nhu himself.
