Born in 1912, Le Duc Tho was, with Ho Chi Minh, one of the original founders of the Communist Party of Indochina. He later became responsible of the insurgency in South Vietnam.

Le Duc Tho was Henry Kissinger's counterpart during the long negotiations in Paris that led to the cease-fire agreement in 1973. He died in 1990.
