History 262: Fall Semester 2004
Class Schedule

Week

This schedule is fairly simple. We'll be doing the same thing over and over. What will make it interesting is the dialogue you develop with each other about your experience watching the films. I will begin posting essays about history and film starting Monday, August 23. They will be linked from Blackboard and the course home page.

23-Aug

Introduction. Discussion of ideas and selection of films. Visit Blackboard and introduce yourself.

30-Aug

Film Group 1 Prior to selecting a film for part one, go into the discussion forum and talk about films you have seen and enjoyed—or not enjoyed—and why. Read the comments of others to help you decide on a film. Then select one film, research the background and post comments in the forum.

Essay on group 1 Films.

Tell your classmates which film you intend to use and you can collaborate on research if you are seeing the same one as someone else—and that will probably happen often, as there are 25 of you in the class (as of 8/26/04.)

6-Sep

Write your critique of the film, including background information you discovered—3-5 pages—and submit to me via email or postal mail. Post a brief summary in Blackboard and respond to comments by others.
